President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with delegation of the European Parliament headed by Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister.
The Head of State expressed sincere gratitude to the European Parliament for the adoption of the decision of April 6 to grant visa-free regime for Ukrainians. “This has become a clear confirmation of a powerful support by the European Parliament for the European future of our state,” the President noted.
The parties denounced recent actions of Russia aimed to destabilize the situation in Donbas and undermine peace process.
The Head of State praised an active stance of the European Parliament as regards protection of human rights in temporarily occupied Crimea and support for the efforts on de-occupation of the peninsula and its return under Ukraine’s sovereignty.
The parties discussed the prospects of completing ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement, ways to unleash the potential of DCFTA, including the approval of additional autonomous trade preferences for Ukraine by the European Parliament, as well as the issue of energy security of the European continent.
The parties also noted the urgent need to take concrete measures to increase efficiency of countering Russian deceptive campaign in Europe.
